Car history: |
1971 Chevy Corvette "T" Top Coupe LS5 454 Cubic Inch, 365 HP, 4 Speed Close Ratio Transmission, Leather Interior, Rear Window Defroster, Power Steering, Power Brakes and AM/FM Stereo Radio (Replacement).
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS CAR. IT WAS PURCHASED NEW ON MAY 12, 1971 BY ME AT LES STANFORD CHEVROLET IN DEARBORN, MICHIGAN. I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS CAR SINCE PURCHASING IT.
It is now time to let it go. It is now time for me to downsize. I haven't driven this car but approximately 10 miles in the last two years, and I would rather see someone enjoy the car as I did for many years rather than watch it waste away sitting in the garage.
This car is not perfect. It is an honest #3 car. Looks great from 20 feet, but you can see some mionor stress cracks in the front header panel and various other places...not bad, but there, none-the-less. The car was repainted the original color about 10 years ago, and there are minor chips. The chrome and emblems are in very good condition with the exception of the lower front grills. As I said, the car has been living in my garage for many years.
The engine, transmission and complete drive train are NUMBERS MATCH..The engine has never been apart, but I did replace the oil pan a couple years ago because it was rusting thru and causing an oil leak. The engine, transmission and rear end that came with the car are still in it. The gas tank was replaced about 10 years ago. I have replaced alternators, water pumps, Clutches, Radiator, Hoses and Belts, U Joints and wheel bearings, Brakes, Stainless Steel Calipers and Rotors, etc as necessary over the years to maintain the car in driving condition.
This car is in driving condition now, but it's a little balky. I suppose it needs a carb rebuild and the gasoline that's in it is a year old (used gasoline stabilizer).I took it for about a 5 mile ride the other day and it ran good, but, again, there was some hesitation and it didn't want to idle until it was really warmed up.
The interior is in pretty good shape. The leather seats have no rips or tears and the door panels are good as you can see in the pics. Could probably use new carpeting and a good cleaning. I am not trying to sell you a completely restored #1 Corvette for $50,000.00. I want to sell an honest survivor that I have owned for 38 years and have maintained in driving condition all that time. It's a car that you can drive today and take your time restoring (if that is your wish) to pristine condition.
Incidentially, I have the original bill of sale, the original window sticker and warranty plate. I also have the owners manual. I would like for this car to go to a good home. If there are any questions, you can call my cell phone (reasonable hours, please) 586-663-6683 and I would be happy to answer them. If I don't answer, please leave a concise message with your name, phone number and best time to return your call, and I will get back to you ASAP.
